I read this article today on an e-mail sent to me. As my friends and enemies know I am fervent anti EU and we should remove the UK from the Brussels clique as soon as we can.
This evening I attended a UKIP fund-raising dinner, and Diane James MEP was guest speaker.
She gave a short but mind-boggling insight into Brussels life.
Recently, the MEPs all had to vote on the “progress reports”. These are updates on the accession process for new EU wannabe members, Bosnia, Montenegro. Kosovo. I think there was another, possibly Albania.
As Diane says, they are all poor, with many unemployed. You can guess what their citizens will do when they join the EU – many will come here.
In the voting, UKIP MEPs opposed. BUT, and here is the astonishing thing,
apparently every MEP from the Labour and Tory Parties voted yes.
So there you have it. Lab/Tory talk a lot of changing immigration patterns – doing something to address public concerns. But when push comes to shove, they are wholly on the side of the “project” for the ever-expanding empire of the EU.
They don’t care for anything, it seems, except that project.
If that doesn’t make you a tiny bit angrier than you were a moment ago, I don’t know what will.
And I leave you with a Latin saying from someone much more learned than me.
If you are a Latin scholar, please tell me if it is correct.
Jure externa, patria imperata serva est.
A country ruled by a foreign power is a slave.
I wonder of there are pro-EU voters who enjoy singing Rule Britannia, but still cannot see the irony in singing “…Britons…never shall be slaves…”
